Lorenzo Mannino

I made several short films, and then took care of the creation of Music videos, live concerts, reports and some commercials. After graduating in Technological Arts at the ABA in Catania, I moved to Milan to attend the National Film School, directed by the famous Director Maurizio Nichetti, where I specialized in advertising and corporate doc, directing several projects: "Cult City - Lodi" for the Lombardy region, “Catisfashion” for Eataly and the "Beermouth" commercial for "Baladin Spirits".

Then, I continued to be a Filmmaker in some agencies and production houses in Milan and Rome, such as Synapsy and Smile Vision. I have always cultivated the dream of making cinema, and I have realized it by writing and shooting various film projects, later specializing in the Noir, Mystery, Romance, Thriller and Horror genres. Some of these have participated in international Film Festivals.

In 2015, I made the short “Ct Duel”, an urban, grunge and Catania remake of Spielberg's “Duel”. Paying homage to him. In 2017, I made the short "The Runner", shot entirely in a POV style, winning the award for best 70-second short at the tenth "Festival del Piccolo Grande Cinema" in the "Tempo Limite" competition. Currently, one of my shorts, "Là dove c'è troppa luce (Where there is too much light"), Noir/Milanese Romance, after two years of distribution, has won and participated in several international festivals. The short "I Catch You" (Thriller/Action), as well as a diploma essay at the National Fiilm School (winner at the Oniros Film Awards, Corti in Cortile, Cinefacts.it), was available on Amazon Prime.

"Mist City", is a project, work in progress, for a future TV series, a crossover of my three short films, whose Pitch Trailer won first prize at the Trailers FilmFest. I moved between the north and Sicily, having Turin and Catania as bases. After having written and shot an Indie short entitled "La città irreale" (Mystery/Distopico), produced by Cinenomadi and sponsored by the Piemonte film Commission, then another short co-produced by Cinenomadi is " From the sea" (Romance/Thriller), conceived and shot during the "Kinoguarimba" film residency. Both shorts are being distributed, the first with Tersite and the second with Cattive distributions. Finally, I am working on a serial project, in episodes, entitled "PulpSicilyStories", on a top-secret Horror project: "Scream in the Darkness" and on another Horror movie "Low Tide". In the end, I wrote and directed a Short film, "Beth's last song", Thriller, set in Berlin. Now I’m writing a book: “Diary of a Nomad Filmmaker (How to survive in Italy being a freelance filmmaker” and pitching an idea for another movie.
